Adoption Event Brings Together Richmond Area Animal Rescue Groups | Pets

Every second Saturday of the month, Richmond area animal rescue groups and shelters come together in one place to accomplish one goal--get their adoptable animals out there in the public eye and find them forever homes.

Metro Richmond Pet Savers was formed just over a year ago by like-minded people in the animal rescue field, who agreed that holding a regular "street fair" type adoption event would attract members of the public who might not know where to go to see adoptable animals, or who might not be able to travel to some shelter's locations.

MRPS meets once a month at different area Petsmart stores; each group has a tent, flyers, assorted merchandise and freebies, and of course adoptable animals for people to come visit. The event is fun and family friendly, with music provided by local radio station DJs, face painting and other fun games for kids, a misting tent and ice cream during the hot summer months.

This month's Metro Richmond Pet Savers event takes place this Saturday, July 9, at the Petsmart located at 1276 Carmia Way, off of Midlothian Turnpike. The event lasts from 10am to 1pm, and will have more than 20 groups and vendors in attendance. Stop by for a fun event and to meet some animals looking for their forever homes!
