CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- A Chesterfield personal trainer is charged with recording a woman in the bathroom during a session at his house, according to Chesterfield Police.
Craig Lamont Kirkpatrick placed the recording device in the bathroom of his house without the 21-year-old's knowledge and used it to film her Tuesday, police said. However, the woman discovered the device and left the house with it. Kirkpatrick followed the woman to her car, confronted her and took the device from her before she left, according to detectives.
Kirkpatrick, of the 5700 block of Harbour Ridge Road, was arrested Tuesday and charged with unauthorized filming of another and assault.
Several people have contacted NBC12 to defend Kirkpatrick and stand up for his character. Chesterfield Police recovered both parts of the recording device, which was damaged and is working to recover the information on the device. They confirmed that the device did appear to contain a camera.
Kirkpatrick swore out charges against the victim with a magistrate, reportedly claiming she struck him with her vehicle as she left the scene. Chesterfield Police and the Commonwealth's Attorney's office are holding off serving the warrant until the end of the investigation. At this point, police say the physical evidence is more consistent with the victim's claims than with Mr. Kirkpatrick's claims.
Anyone with information about this or other incidents of illegal filming is urged to call police at 804-748-1251.
