Chesterfield man claims to be minister to seduce teen | News
CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A Chesterfield man who claimed to be a minister is now accused of trying to have sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Kelvin Goode allegedly met the girl at the Lord's Church Baptist in Chesterfield County.
The victim's parents are angry and frustrated, saying the church is a place their daughter should feel safe. They say Kelvin Goode called their daughter multiple times, making sordid requests and then tried to hide it by saying he was tutoring her.
Leaders at the church say Goode only came to the church about 6 times. They say he claimed to be a minister who was attending services
"At the time I was quite disappointed," said Lord's Church Baptist Pastor Howard Moses.
Chesterfield Police say Goode met the 14-year-old girl at the church, then made advances toward her.
The teens parents say Goode cornered their daughter in the church and handed her a business card. He told her she was in trouble and that he could help. They say their daughter called him back because she wondered why she was in trouble.
From there, they say things took an inappropriate turn. They claim Goode proceeded to ask inappropriate questions, like whether she was a virgin. They say he encouraged her to sleep with him and said he would pay for her college apartment and car.
Goode told the girl not to tell her parents what they talked about because he could go to jail, according to the victim's parents. Then they say he told her to tell them he was helping her with math if they asked why he called. The girl told her parents, who told police.
The church's pastor says Goode isn't welcome back.
"I already contacted my deacons and instructed them to make direct contact with him and let them know we don't' have a need for his services anymore," said Moses.
The victim's parents tell us Goode proceeded to call multiple times and that they had to take out a protective order against him. Court records indicate Goode also has eight prior felony convictions- mostly for domestic problems.
We did stop by Goode's house and the home of his sister. Goode was not home. His sister had no comment.
